Anime coloring (アニメ塗り, anime nuri) refers to a style of coloring. It derives from the simplified use of color, which was often seen in cel animation. This is because the number of colors that could be used in animation at that time was quite limited due to the fact that the animation was colored on cels with paints.
In 3DCG, a similar expression is called cel shading.
