Surface-to-air missiles or 'SAM' missiles, are missiles tasked with Air-Defence but are fired from a surface platform. This includes ground-based launchers and ships. SAMs can be tasked with destroying enemy aircraft, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and even satellites.
