Hitori Gotou (後藤ひとり) is the protagonist of the manga Bocchi the Rock! and is the guitarist of the four-piece band 'Kessoku Band'.

Hitori Gotou (後藤ひとり, Gotou Hitori) is the protagonist of the manga Bocchi the Rock! by Aki Hamaji. She is the guitarist in the four-piece band Kessoku Band'.

She started playing the electric guitar when she was in the first year of junior high school and has honed her skills by practising six hours a day, and is currently highly regarded as a guitarhero, a contributor of cover videos that mainly deal with songs that sell well.

Personality

In reality, she is a ridiculously socially awkward and a hardcore dork.

The reason she started playing guitar was because she was inspired by the past of a very popular band member who had been a socially awkward person. In junior high school, while practising hard on the guitar, she tried all kinds of ways of "appealing that she knows about music" in order to get people talking to her, but eventually she ended her junior high life without any friends.

She is so tormented by the negative memories of her own past that she chose a high school in Shimokitazawa, two hours each way from her hometown in Yokohama (†1), where no one else would know her.

She spends her days in high school idling away, using her online reputation as sustenance, until she is asked to play support guitar by Nijika Ijichi, who happens to see her carrying around a guitar for appeal purposes, and joins a Shimokitazawa-based high school band called the "Kessoku Band".

Her favourite guitar is a Gibson Les Paul Custom in black. It is a well-known black beauty. She borrows it from her father and still has the Gibson logo sticker on the pickguard.

After it was damaged during a performance in volume 2, she bought herself a new guitar.

At home, she has built up a room in a wardrobe (†2) and concentrates much of herself as a guitarist in there. She has a habit of feeling safe in small, dark places and prefers to go into confined spaces for mental stability.

Because she suffers from an adolescent complex, she prefers the type of bands that beat her adolescent angst, and thinks that rock music should be sung by 'losers'.

Her guitar skills as a 'guitarhero' have been described as being at the level of a professional, but when it comes to live performances, she lacks the guts to play in front of people and has no time to look around her, which results in her running off on her own and not being able to fully demonstrate her abilities.

Basically, she wears top and bottom tracksuit (with skirts). When performing, she wears a T-shirt or hoodie with the band's logo.

She wears her hair long simply because she cannot go to the hairdresser.

Tends to be hazy due to frequent eccentricities and facial physical collapse, but she is outwardly good-looking and has excellent figure.

Perhaps God only gave her two gifts, as her athletic ability is hopelessly lacking, and although she tries her best in her studies, she is unable to keep up with others.

She usually wears tracksuit because the clothes her mother buys her are 'tacky', but her own taste in clothes is quite eccentric, flamboyant and even downright poor.

†1: She attended a school called Yokohama Municipal Seirin Junior High School (横浜市立西凛中学校), and the area around Kanazawa-Hakkei Station is described as her 'hometown', suggesting that her hometown is in the vicinity of Kanazawa Ward in Yokohama City.

†2: Her own room is set in a second-floor tatami room at home, and is depicted as a simple room with no sign of a band or guitar outside of a wardrobe at first glance.
